More About Vernon Eakins…

I was born in rural Pender County, graduated from Burgaw High School and spent one year at was known then as Wilmington College. I then enlisted in the U.S .Navy, and after a four year tour of duty aboard the USS John F. Kennedy received an Honorable Discharge. I then came home to marry a high school class mate, who is still the love of his life. I then went to Cape Fear Technical Institute and received a degree and became employed at Diamond Shamrock Chemicals in Castle Hayne N.C. It was during that time that I came to remember those days of floating on the immense oceans of the world and thus began my thirst for the appreciation of the “Good Old Dirt”. After 29 years of service at the Castle Hayne plant I was fortunate to take early retirement..

Then I began to work on what had become my true passion, the one in which has enabled me to not only be able to walk on some of that “good old dirt”, but along the way to find a “piece of dirt” for my clients to call their own.

I have been a licensed Real Estate Broker since 2004 and worked with one of the area’s largest independent Real Estate firms before coming to Phillips Land Company.

I love travel, hunting, fishing, golf, NHRA drag racing, family, my church and God. Beverly, my wife, and I have one son, Chris.
